Girl's hockey has exploded in Canada over the past 10 years and the N.C.C.P
teams represent the best and most talented female hockey players in eastern
Ontario. Many of the girls travel long distances to participate in the NCCP
program, often travelling more than 60 miles. While practicing in Ottawa, the
team prepares for tournament play, mostly in the Toronto area. Neve became interested in supporting girl's hockey and in the Capitals in particular through her cousin, who is a player on the Peewee "AA" team. The NCCP program attracts girls looking to advance their hockey careers and perhaps achieve the ultimate goal of representing their country in international competitions, like the Olympics. Neve sees supporting the team as a way of helping talented girls develop in an area of sport that has not traditionally included girls and which has been often underfunded. |

All of the girls registered in the N.C.C.P program are looking to advance
their hockey careers either through scholorships and or the ultimate goal of
representing their country in future International competition. It is through contributions like that of Neve's that keep the dream alive for many of the girls who couldn't afford it otherwise. Icetime, dryland training facility rental, tournaments, and travel for such an elite team are very expensive. It is through generous contributions that teams are able to operate at such a high level of competition. Thanks Neve! |
